Handbag Diaries: My Bag's Famous!

I'm sure most of you remember watching the film Cloverfield (and dealing with the headache afterward). Well, one of the bag's a character in the film wore is actually today's featured bag! Yay! My bag is famous sucka's! Take that all you bagnista's!

Ironically enough although the bag was worn by an actress in a major film, I actually bought it at Target. Yep, Targay. It couldn't have been more than $25. I really liked the grey-leaf pattern on the bag and the yellow leather-looking handles. Only thing is it got dirty pretty quickly because of the light colors so I haven't worn it in well over a year. And I'm kind of scared to wash it since it is just a handbag. Any bagnista's out there have any handbag washing tips/techniques?

Oh P.S. I Googled like a mad woman but I still couldn't find a screencap of the chic wearing my bag in the movie :-\

City Of Ink "Popular" Art Show And Reality Series

Next weekend Atlanta tattoo shop City Of Ink will host yet another art show at their space. The exhibition is entitled "Popular" and it will showcase a number of art pieces that are inspired by popular culture.

The show will take place on Friday, February 26 at 7 p.m. at City Of Ink (323 Walker Street, Castleberry Hill).

Aside from the "Popular" art show, it looks like the folks of City Of Ink are also hard at work creating their own reality show. The show revolves around life at the shop and may even make its television debut soon. Check out the video below for a sneak peak of "City Of Ink: The TV Show."

Ching-Ching's Do Not Disturb Mixtape

Although I'm not too big on the Valentine's Day holiday I'm still gonna go ahead and post Atlanta producer Ching-Ching's latest project Do Not Disturb. Female producer's aren't something we see a lot of in Hip Hop so I definitely have to show support.

Ching-Ching's V-Day inspired mixtape features a number of well-known slow jams from artists including Maxwell, Floetry, Luther Vandross, and more.

If you're gonna be in the Atlanta area this weekend you definitely have to check out Ms. Brittany Bosco performing at the 529 in the East Atlanta Village. Check out the flyer for more info and also check out this video footage I got at one of her most recent performances.

Tonight's The Night!!

LOOOOOOOOOST!!! I'm so friggin' excited!! You guys don't even know! This really is the BEST show ever! The season premiere tonight is like Christmas for me! Christmas, Valentine's Day (with a boo), Halloween (as a kid), and my b-day all rolled up in one!!

Just look at all my damn exclamation points!!!!!

Here's a little treat for my "LOST" lovers...

For those of you who actually watch "LOST" (and if you don't SHAME ON YOU!) you probably remember the episode with me and my boo Sawyer escaping from The Others. Here's a little screencap ABC was gracious enough to send me...

"Home Alone" - Azage (Video)

Recently, Atlanta (by way of Toronto) rapper Azage added his own little soundtrack to the cult classic Home Alone with his promptly titled track “Home Alone” off of The Bars Outbreak mixtape (which can be conveniently downloaded here).

Check out the video mash-up that was put together for the track.

Handbag Diaries: Patrizia Pepe Straw Bag

This was one of those bags that got my attention the moment I laid eyes on it. What really got me was the colors. I loved the combination of the pink, green, and blue on the front of the bag. I also thought the brown leather sides and handle was a nice little touch as well.

I bought the bag at Daffy's, I really can't remember how much I paid, but I know it was pretty reasonable. Probably somewhere between $25 and $40. I even remember the cashier telling me I got a really good deal on the bag. My only minor problem with this bag is because of the colors and the straw material it's really only a spring/summer bag.

Swatch's "The Blessing Sign" Watch

I'm lovin' this new watch by Swatch (Ha! That rhymed!). More than anything it's the print on the wristband. I love colors and I love animal print so that basically sealed the deal for me with this watch. And the stuffed tiger it comes with just looks so darn feisty! Grrrr!!

What do you think peeps? Is this watch something you would rock?

Lawddd Help The Children!

No idea where that blog title came from, but that's the very first thing that came to mind when I saw this picture of Kelis. I can't even pick out what's worse: the pairing of a tuxedo jacket with such a horrible outfit, the bizarre-ass shoes, or the Hellraiser hair. They're all equally as terrifying ESPECIALLY when combined. Ouch! All hating aside, I'm still feeling her music I just hope she hires a stylist or fires her current one :-\

Video Promo For Beyonce's New Fragrance "Heat"

All I can say is the guys are going to LOVE this one. I'm feeling like it's a little too oversexed for a fragrance ad, but hey that's just me.

Heat will be released on February 2, (The same day as the "LOST" premiere. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!) and if you're in the New York City area Beyonce will be appearing at Union Square Park that day from 6 p.m. and throughout the night to celebrate the launch of her fragrance.

Handbag Diaries: Vintage Leather Bag

There's a few things I'm obsessed with. Music, nail polish, and handbags all rank pretty high on my list of obsessions. I talk about music a lot on this blog and now I want to give my obsession with handbags a little more shine. So...without further ado...I bring you Handbag Diaries! I'm so creative with the titles, right?

Every few days I'm going to highlight a bag I have in my growing collection. The bag I'm featuring today is my newest bag and it's also my current favorite. I bought it at a thrift shop here in Atlanta. I like to call it my "mystery bag" because there are NO labels whatsoever on it. No designer label, material label, nothing! Here's a few pics. And ladies let me know if you're feeling it or not!

Meet The New "ABDC" Crews: The East

So far you've been introduced to the "America's Best Dance Crew" crews representing both The South and The West. Our last group of crews is representing none other than The East. Surprisingly enough, The East doesn't consist of any crews from New York City. I don't think it's a bad thing though. Although NYC does consist of a number of dancers, crews, etc. there are a lot of other cities and states in The East who also deserve the shine.

Here are the official bio's for the crews representing The East:

Blueprint Cru (Montreal, Canada):
This Canadian crew is out to storm the home of hip-hop and demonstrate a level of synchronicity never seen before. Being the first-ever foreign crew to compete on “ABDC,” Blueprint has a lot to prove. Their motto is "Precision, precision and precision." Every move this crew does, they do as one, moving together. This dance crew is run like an army, training hard to look like one unit, to learn the origin of the move and then striving to perfect them. This perfectionist crew doesn’t believe in tricks and stunts, they believe in unified movements down to every minute detail.

draZtik (Providence, RI): Predominately self-taught from music videos, draZtik is set to prove you don’t need major street cred to hang with the big dogs of “America’s Best Dance Crew.” One of the only dance crews in Providence, RI, they do not garner much respect. However, with choreography that is an innovative combination of contemporary and ballet fused with popping and hip-hop, they plan to earn respect. Because they are all skilled in different styles, draZtik adheres to an unconventional philosophy of leadership by committee. Each member plays an equal role in the design and choreography of every performance. Although this philosophy can sometimes lead to tension amongst members, draZtik feels it ultimately gives them an edge over other crews.

Legendary Seven (Boston, MA): Legendary Seven is proud to call the hard streets of Boston home and are quick to tell you they are one of the last true Bean Town street crews. Their performances revolve around breaking, krumping and popping but, most importantly, big tricks. Crew leader Ernest “E-Knock” Phillips and fellow Legendary Seven member Darius Rutledge were both members of the Season One crew “ABDC” crew Status Quo which finished second to the JabbaWockeeZ. This time around, losing is not an option for them which means their tricks are even bigger and more imaginative then before.

Saltare (Raleigh, NC): These professional jump ropers are seeking exposure for their sport while at the same time conquering the dance world. They have walked away from their college degrees and steady jobs in pursuit of a dream: to become professional jump ropers and pioneers of a burgeoning sport. All six members are a part of the USA Jump Rope All Star team, which only features the best of the best in the country. Saltare comes to “ABDC” to expose the sport they’ve dedicated their lives to, challenge themselves in a different arena and prove that jump rope is more than just child’s play. Now they must incorporate their unique skill set into major performances that and transition their trademark jump rope into viable dance routines.

Static Noyze (Cambridge, MA):
Static Noyze has always felt like outcasts, never really feeling like they fit in with anyone but each other. Bored with what they call “stock hip hop” – routines and moves that they’ve seen before – this off-the-wall group of dancers promises to shake up the “ABDC” stage with their distinct style of dance. They consider themselves to be innovators and describe their dance style as hip-hop with a contemporary twist. What makes them truly unique though, is that they use their routines to convey offbeat stories told through cutting edge moves and costumes. Static Noyze does not mind being called odd. In fact, they embrace it. These eccentricities are what make Static such a unique group and they hope America finds their unconventionality charming.

"America's Best Dance Crew" will premiere today (January 28) at 10p.m. ET/PT.
